Jenin Cultural Centre

Jenin Cultural Centre provides a wide range of projects to people of all ages in the Jenin area. The Centre aims to foster peace and justice in the Palestinian Occupied Territories and is open to everyone regardless of faith, background or political affiliation. The Centre relies upon donations from outside of the West Bank to pay for its projects. Its work has included teaching languages, computer skills, theatre and dance projects; craftwork training for women; musical shows; a football team for women (which will be the first of its kind in Jenin) and many more unique projects.

The Creative Cultural Centre would like to be able to build links with other organisations, especially fundraising groups; to provide equipment so that young people can be trained in the art of film-making in order to produce work about life under occupation and to gain assistance from anyone who can help market the handicrafts produced by the women.

If you are interested in the work of the centre or in providing your professional assistance, financial backing or equipment, please take a look at http://jenincreativeculturalcenter.wordpress.com/about/

Occupation – the good kind!

Often we talk about occupation; occupation that brings misery, injury and death and restricts the freedom of millions of people. So it’s nice to be able to talk about a good occupation – that by British students on behalf of Palestine. There have been an inspiring wave of occupations across the country in protest at the cuts and rises in tuition fees but this one was in order to put pressure on St Andrews University to divest from Israel and provide scholarships for Gaza citizens (more info on http://bit.ly/dEyqrY). The (benign) occupiers suffered being cut off from food and warmth in order to win substantial concessions from the University. May this be just the beginning!
