Very Sad News

THJFA is deeply saddened by the murder of Juliano Mer Khemis, founder of the Freedom Theatre in Jenin and director of the award winning film ‘Arnas Children’. Juliano came to the Isle of Dogs in May 2005 when we showed his brilliant film about the first Freedom Theatre, bulldozed by the IDF in the 2002 invasion of Jenin Refugee Camp. Those of us who met Juliano were inspired by his courage and compassion in improving the lives of children badly affected as a result of occupation. Our sincere sympathy is with all his friends and relatives. We hope that his message of peace and hope, so well embodied in the Theatre, lives on as his legacy. RIP Juliano.
