The bid for a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders has been submitted to the UN. Whilst receiving widespread support at the General Assembly, the US vowed to use its veto in the Security Council to block the bid. Meanwhile in Palestine, the expansion of settlements, violence against Palestinian citizens and the siege of Gaza continues unabated.
Our speakers will discuss how, in the context of the Arab Spring, Palestine can achieve its liberation and what the next steps are for the solidarity movement here and elsewhere. The panel includes professor Haim Bresheeth of UEL; James Denselow, writer on Middle East politics for The Guardian; Frank Barat of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine; and Rafeef Ziadah, Palestinian spoken word artist and activist.
